July TBRšŸŒ»

Hello and welcome to my blog!

Woah weā€™re in July! I simply canā€™t believe it – and I donā€™t many us of us can. This year is going by really fast!

I had originally planned a different TBR for this month but the closer it got to July, the more I fancied reading other books. The warmer weather is reaching us here in the UK, even though itā€™s been raining lolšŸ˜‚so I really want to start reading summer books – YA books, romances, and light fantasy books šŸ“š

Iā€™m really looking forward to this month and all the books I have planned to read – so without further ado, letā€™s get to the booksāœØ

A Murderous Relation by Deanna Raybourn

Autumn 1888. Veronica Speedwell and her colleague Stoker are asked by Lady Wellingtonia Beauclerk to stop a potential scandal so explosive it threatens to rock the monarchy. Prince Albert Victor is a regular visitor to the most exclusive private club in London, and the proprietress, Madame Aurore, has received an expensive gift that can be traced back to the prince. Lady Wellie would like Veronica and Stoker to retrieve it from the club before scandal can break.

Worse yet, London is being terrorized by what would become the most notorious and elusive serial killer in history, Jack the Ripperā€”and Lady Wellie suspects the prince may be responsible.
Veronica and Stoker reluctantly agree to go undercover at Madame AuroreŹ¼s high-class brothel, where a body soon turns up. Secrets are swirling around Veronica and the royal familyā€”and it is up to Veronica and Stoker to find the truth, before it is too late for all of them.

Twin Crowns by Catherine Doyle and Katherine Webber

Two sisters. One throne. Who will ultimately rise to power and wear the crown?

Wren Greenrock has always known that one day she would steal her sisterā€™s place in the palace. Trained from birth to avenge her parentsā€™ murder and usurp the princess, she will do anything to rise to power and protect the community of witches she loves.

Princess Rose Valhart knows that with power comes responsibility including marriage into a brutal kingdom. Life outside the palace walls is a place to be feared and she is soon to discover that itā€™s wilder than she ever imagined.

Twin sisters separated at birth and raised into entirely different worlds are about to get to know each otherā€™s lives a whole lot betterā€¦

The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han

One girl. Two boys. And the summer that changed everything . . .

Every year Isabel spends a perfect summer at her favourite place in the world – the Fisher family’s beach house. It has everything a girl could want: a swimming pool, a private stretch of sandy beach… and two (very cute) boys:

Unavailable, aloof Conrad – who she’s been in love with forever
Friendly, relaxed Jeremiah- the only one who’s ever really paid her any attention.

But this year something is different. This year, the boys seem to really notice Isabel for the first time. It’s going to be an amazing summer – and one she’ll never forget . . .

The Vanished Bride by Bella Ellis

Yorkshire, 1845, and dark rumours are spreading across the moors. Everything indicates that Mrs Elizabeth Chester of Chester Grange has been brutally murdered in her home – but nobody can find her body.

As the dark murmurs reach Emily, Anne and Charlotte Brontƫ, the sisters are horrified, yet intrigued. Before they know it, the siblings become embroiled in the quest to find the vanished bride, sparking their imaginations but placing their lives at great peril . . .

The Lucky List by Rachael Lippincott

Two girls, one list and twelve chances to fall in love this summer . . .

Emilyā€™s always been lucky.

Well, technically her mum was the lucky one, and since she died, Emilyā€™s started to feel like her luckā€™s run out. So when Emily finds her mumā€™s senior-year bucket list, she finds twelve ways to feel close to her again. But if she wants to check everything off, sheā€™ll need help ā€“ help in the form of Blake.

As Blake and Emily work through the list, the girlsā€™ bond deepens. Emily is starting to feel lucky again, but sheā€™s faced with the question: can she accept this new part of herself, the part her mum never even knew existed?

Just Like Heaven by Julia Quinn

Honoria Smythe-Smith, the youngest daughter of the eldest son of the Earl of Winstead, plays the violin in the annual musicale performed by the Smythe-Smith quartet. She’s well aware that they are dreadful. In fact, she freely admits (to her cousins) that she is probably the worst of the bunch. But she’s the sort who figures that nothing good will come of being mortified, so she puts on a good show and laughs about it.

Marcus Holroyd is the best friend of Honoria’s brother Daniel, who lives in exile out of the country. He’s promised to watch out for Honoria and takes his responsibility very seriously. But he has his work cut out for him when Honoria sets off for Cambridge determined to marry by the end of the season. She’s got her eye on the only unmarried Bridgerton, who’s a bit wet behind the ears. When her advances are spurned, can Marcus swoop in and steal her heart in time for the musicale?

Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

Look, I didn’t want to be a half-blood. I never asked to be the son of a Greek God.

I was just a normal kid, going to school, playing basketball, skateboarding. The usual. Until I accidentally vaporized my maths teacher. Now I spend my time battling monsters and generally trying to stay alive.

This is the one where Zeus, God of the Sky, thinks I’ve stolen his lightning bolt – and making Zeus angry is a very bad idea

Twisted Games by Ana Huang

Stoic, broody and arrogant, elite bodyguard Rhys Larsen has two rules: protect his clients at all costs and do not become emotionally involved. Ever. He has never once been tempted to break those rules . . . until her.

Bridget von Ascheberg. A princess with a stubborn streak that matches his own and a hidden fire that reduces his rules to ash. She’s nothing he expected and everything he never knew he needed.

Day by day, inch by inch, she breaks down his defences until he’s faced with a truth he can no longer deny: he swore an oath to protect her, but all he wants is to ruin her. Take her. Because she’s his. His princess. His forbidden fruit. His every depraved fantasy.

Regal, strong-willed and bound by the chains of duty, Princess Bridget dreams of the freedom to live and love as she chooses.

But when her brother abdicates, she’s suddenly faced with the prospect of a loveless, politically expedient marriage and a throne she never wanted.

And as she navigates the intricacies – and treacheries – of her new role, she must also hide her desire for a man she can’t have. Her bodyguard. Her protector. Her ultimate ruin.

Unexpected and forbidden, theirs is a love that could destroy a kingdom . . . and doom them both.
